Gliding into the Sun
Today was an exceptionally beautiful day and I spent the afternoon exploring on my scooter. Along the bluffs on Dallas Road were 5 or 6 paragliders sailing on the breeze coming off the Juan de Fuca Strait. They looked very graceful slipping back and forth on the breeze; hovering suspended above the ground. I had previously taken many pictures of the paragliders as they sailed past, so today I wanted to try something different. I tried to get underneath the gliders as they flew overhead and capture an interesting image from a different perspective. The only difficulty was that while I was there the gliders spent most of their time over the water and I was not able to get the perspective shot that I wanted. I also had an unexpected difficulty ... people were out walking their dogs, unleashed, and often when I was lining up a picture, a dog would come up to me and want to be my friend! I think my next project will be to sit in the park and take pictures of each dog that comes up to me! I had a polarizing filter with me today so I experimented with trying to capture the parasail as it passed in front of the sun. I like the pictures where the sun was partially eclipsed and added drama to the shot.
