Down on the Mall

First day of our two week holiday in the USA. Despite managing to avoid the new volcanic ash cloud disruptions we had some adrenaline-fuelled moments at the airport that almost put an end to our travel plans (new ESTA regulations?) but we made it here in the end. I've spent many months here before, but it's the first time for the husband, so we spent our first day walking around the National Mall and taking in all the famous monuments. After arriving in an unseasonal heatwave it the weather was quite pleasant. We're saving the museums for when it's either raining or gets so hot you want to escape to an air-conditioned sanctuary :D
