Tracing Music Tracks

Found this CD in the local Oxfam record shop today and bought it, partly out of a sense of nostalgia. I have a sizeable collection of "world" music (awful term) in the house but haven't added much to it in ages.

Two things switched me on to music outside the Anglosphere: Peter Gabriel through his own music and the Realworld label, and a track from this album called Im Nin'Alu, which found its way into the British charts (in a dancy remix) in 1988. I remember hearing it on the radio and thinking "Wow, that's different!". Ofra Haza was Israel's biggest star, who died tragically of AIDS-related illnesses 10 years ago.

Ultimately my tastes went elsewhere and much of my collection is Tango Nuevo, but I'm always open to hearing different stuff.
