Wayside

In the past, before steam power, the Water of Leith valley was the industrial heart of Edinburgh with over seventy working mills, now all gone.

As a tribute to this heritage I carved a millstone on the top of this huge block of rock beside the Walkway. The design is based on the Water of Leith Conservation Trust's logo & with the miracle of an internet search I was able to find how to dress a millstone, a skill that in the past every miller would have had.
