reel history

I bought this from another crafter who was having a big clear out. It's a bobbin of thread by the Scottish company Coates. Not sure of it's age but I think it has to be over 25 years old.

It is made from wood and the purple thread is varigated BUT it's the label that really strikes me. All that detail & colour for something so small.

One of my late great aunts used to work for Coates as a sample maker. Coates would then use her embroidery to show retailers how beautiful their threads were...now there's a job I'd enjoy!
