Connect day 3

If The Jesus and Mary chain were the best individual performance this was probably the best day as a whole at the festival. We got in at two and saw bits and pieces of various bands before going to check out Paul Hartnoll's Ideal Condition. We are both huge fans of his old band Orbital and were a bit surprised to find that, rather than just him with synths and drum machines he had a proper drummer, a string quartet, a guitarist, an accordionist and a glockenspiel player. It was great stuff, kind of like a grown up version of Orbital and they even threw in a couple of renditions of Orbital tracks for good measure.

After that we met up with Laurinha and Lucky Jim again who had had an early start so they could get down to Glasgow for Laurinha to run in the half marathon at 10am. Now that's commitment and I believe she ran a personal best too. The main acts in the evening which really made the day were, everyone's favourite demented Icelandic pop pixie, Bjork and the excellent LCD Soundsystem.

Bjork was fantastic, she would have been excellent anyway, but accompanying her on stage providing the bulk of the electronic parts was one of my favourite techno producers Mark Bell who was on great form too. Lucky Jim also pointed out that one of her band mambers was using the crazy device known as a Reactable which looked pretty spectacular on the big screens. There was also an Icelandic pianist and Brass section who were in outfits almost as crazy as Bjork's but I'm not sure if you can make tham out in this shot.

LCD Soundsystem did a really upbeat dancy set to finish off the festival. again we declined the opportunity to stay until 2 in the morning and started the long trek home.
