Poor puppy eyes

Our lovely Golden Retriever Barney has been diagnosed as suffering from Horner's Syndrome.

We noticed on Sunday evening that his left eye appeared sunken and that his third eyelid was partially obscuring the eye, We took him to the vets yesterday where a stroke was rulled out. There are no foreign objects in his eye either. Evidently Horner's Syndrome doesn't always need something for it to occur and it is more common in aged Retrievers (don't tell Barney he is classed as aged!). It may get better - it may not. Even if it does it may take a while. In the mean time we have an ointment to apply twice daily - something Barney has been very tolerant of, and we go back to the vets if there is no improvement once the ointment is finished.

Poor thing - in the mean time his vision is slightly impaired - as you can see from the photo his left eye does appear slightly sunken and smaller, plus the 'white' bit is the third eyelid which is obscuring his vision. He does seem to be feeling very sorry for himself. The upside is that he got a few more treats than usual!
