In bloom
As you walk down the street, it strikes you afresh how much you love this little town - your town.
Small things you'd never really taken notice of - that flower bed, for instance - suddenly seem like a source of pride to you. Funnily enough, you can normally take or leave flowers.
A thought comes to you that seems at once to be completely implausible and yet entirely true: other people around you are having exactly the same thoughts as you.
You notice that it isn't everyone. Some of your fellow townspeople look, well, completely as you'd expect.
But others...it seems that you see something in their eyes, and that they recognise something in yours. Hard to put your finger on it, but it looks like - although it seems ridiculous - a look of wonder.
And yet, wonder isn't all you see in their eyes.
