Flowing Water
As C said in an e-mailed early warning to my sister in Wales, it finally happened -- I didn't blip yesterday. It was a frustrating day blipwise.
It was raining quite heavily when we started our weekly petanque game, so I left my camera bag in the car. Towards the end of the game we heard an owl hooting very loudly in the trees nearby. It seemed to be having a disagreement with another bird -- perhaps they were arguing about who was wiser. Just as we finished playing, we saw the owl perched on a branch overhead. Fred kindly offered to hold my umbrella over the camera so I could get a blip. By the time we fetched the camera from the car, the owl had decided to fly away -- and it was still raining.
After lunch, the sun came out, and I tried unsuccessfully to get some more hummingbird photos. Around dinner time the sky darkened and the rain began again. I couldn't think of anything to blip indoors and decided to take a day off.
The sun was shining this morning while I was playing pickleball, but the forecast was for strong winds in the afternoon -- 30 mph, gusting to 50. I thought it might be a good day to blip some kiteboarders, but when the winds arrived (very suddenly) they came with heavy rain.
I needed an indoor blip. C had suggested the new faucet as a subject. I didn't think that would be very interesting. However, I've always been fascinated by flowing and falling water, so I placed an LED flashlight next to the sink to illuminate the aerated water from the faucet, and this was the result.
I also took some shots using flash, and the results were quite different. Here are a couple.
