Surinese Powder Puff tree.

Calliandra Surinamensis

A low branching shrub or small tree with multiple trunks, growing up to a height and width of 15 feet The showy pink flowers, like powder puffs, are bright pink on the surface and pale pink to white inside the powder puff ball. It is said that it should only be grown in containers, in areas where the winter temperature drops below 30f. Absolute nonsense. This tree grows like a weed here in Ocala. It positively thrives on uncultivated overgrown sandy soil, or in tree covered empty plots in semi-developed neighborhoods, where the temperature regularly drops below 20f in the winter. In fact it is so prolific, that it might well be classified as invasive before too long. It is really beautiful to see at this time of year.
