RAMBLING ROSE

There was just enough wind today to send anybody trying to photograph flowers right up the walls. I am typing this from the ceiling.

This rambling rose is an Albertine and it was brought with us from Scotland to Italy as little stick cuttings in a plastic bag. In Scotland it formed two clumps along a stone wall. They were old and never grew very much. Its blossoms were delicate and quite small. There were blossoms for a full month. I didn't know if it would survive in Italy.

Very funny. Each stick took off, scrambled along wooden fences and up stone walls. Whoa! The blossoms were much bigger and became rather brash and blousy. They made an enormous show and were gone, zot, in two weeks.

I also considered this as more interesting but "pretty" won out. ONION FLOWER

I'm afraid Blip is going to become somewhat of a garden but it could be worse. It could be all snow pictures.
