All that's missing is the chalk outline

Went out for my evening walk as it was getting dark. The low light made the remains of this once-proud elm look like the remains of a mangled hit & run victim splayed out on the boulevard.

I walked past this magnificent tree many times before its demise but didn't really notice it. I think there's a lesson here about not appreciating things until after they're gone.
