episode 1

Today was the first of the ceremonies. Today is when it finally started sinking in that I'm getting married :) Today, the groom's family came over for the 'bless the groom ceremony". It was a mini-event in itself as elders from the bride's family and some of the groom's took turns in blessing the groom in a traditional way. The elders bless the groom with turmeric, sandalwood paste, grass leaves and paddy grains. And of course, there're sweets. No bengali ceremony can ever be complete without sweets.

...and then, there was this special guest. A 5-year old wee girl who's actually my sister-in-law (cousin). She's a Dutch-born girl to an Indian dad and a Russian mom. She was a handful - wonder where kids find so much of energy.
