relaxed

Though he must stay until Wednesday so that he can be observed, assessed and hopefully passed as clear twenty-four hours after his antibiotics finish the wingpiglet (we've decided, but have only told family thus far) was trundled from the specialist care unit back to Nicky's ward this evening where he is now hopefully asleep after a couple of feeds and two more changes since the vastly filled nappy of this afternoon which appeared to contain a greater volume than the entire gastrointestinal tract of a four-day-old human infant should be able to contain. It proves beyond doubt that he's feeding successfully at any rate. For some reason one set of antibiotics are administered nightly at 02:00 though he seems to be perfectly happy sleeping through most things at the moment. He's still not home but is a step closer, though it'll probably be slightly weirder (though much easier) for Nicky to have him there with her all day but to not be at home. The last couple of day's she's been able to pop out for a quick spin around the buildings with me to get some fresher air but I don't think we'd be allowed to remove the wingpiglet from the building until he's deemed fit and will have to pop out individually whilst one of us stays with him. As I'm getting plenty of fresh air (albeit searingly hot fresh air) on my journeys to and from the hospital to the house I shall try and persuade Nicky to pop out a couple of times tomorrow so that I can get more cleansing-practise.

Although this week's been a bit weird and the progress of making house seem more familiar has been somewhat stalled I have at least found another advantage of the new location; on Friday and Saturday evenings I cycled home past the flat, taking the Innocent cycle path to avoid the roads. I'd forgotten quite how thick the air along the path can become with little flying insect-bastards just after sundown. Whilst the equivalent new-home-local long-straight-running-friendly path from Seafield to Portobello can sometimes smell a bit it's never been insect-infested so far.
