Bread - Round 2
Today I got together w/ the kids (Daughters Sammy & Jess, and Jess' boyfriend Ernie) along w/ baby Aiden and we set out to make more bread today!
We made a total of 6 loaves!
Jess made her tasty homemade potato soup, and we served it w/ the bread and a salad and it was deeeelicios! (TY Jess)
The first 2 loaves w tried out the bread hooks and mixer. We won't do that again, it overworked the dough and it never really rose very well... a repeat effect of attempt #1. ~doorstop. =\
But we hand mixed the next 2 batches, and allowed them to rise a bit longer than the recipe called for as its a very humid day. Sam decided to use bread tins, I shaped mine and baked on a cookie sheet - both turned out really well. Poor Jess was the experiment w/ the mixer...she sacrificed her fluffy loaves so that we could learn...what a trooper.
Well, we must've done something right....there are only 3 loaves left, and one of those went home with Jess & Ernie. :)
The bread is tasty, airy, soft and crusty - perfect for our soup/salad dinner!
YAY!! We did it! Today, we won the battle over yeast bread.
