"Ma baw's got stuck on the pole!"
There's a caption in here somewhere, just not sure what it is....
This is one of the latest pieces of public art that's been unveiled 'doon-the-toon' in Alloa, one of four pieces by Rob Mullholland. This is it still under wraps, as blipped by Blipper's Daily(?), and I also blipped the other three still in bubble wrap earlier this month.
I'm not convinced these are in the right place to be appreciated. The artist has similar pieces installed in a secluded wood out in the Trossachs and I'd imagine discovering these camouflaged away in amongst the undergrowth would add to their intrigue. These though are all in the main thoroughfares used by tanked up teenagers and other less civic minded individuals who may see these more as barriers to the next pub rather than well crafted sculptures. There's enough people around here that would pick a fight with their own shadows, what these same people would do if they spotted their kebab sauce dribbled reflection in these is anybody's guess.
As it is, I noticed a couple of large dents in the surface of one of the sculptures at the other site as I drove past, as if someone's hurled a large rock or something at it. They've been on display less than a week.
Not sure what'll come down first; the ball off the top of the pole, or the two tonne vanity mirror that's waiting on it.
