Cheery decrepitude
It strikes me, here in Almaty, that people do not care much for the aesthetics of their buildings. There is a lot of personal pride in appearance, wearing the latest fashions, yet they drive around in crap-buckets (technical term), and live in buildings that look like they should be knocked down. It is worse here I think, since there is a large gap between rich and poor. The rich in this town appear to be VERY rich, and people like me (or how I am in Aberdeen) live in buildings like this.
I suspect I am making some generalisations here, but that is very much how it looks to me. I guess that this has turned into a little bit of a rant eh!
This afternoon I decided that a wee walk was in order, I'd been told that there was a craft fair on today. I thought it would be a different one to where I had bought my Lomo, but it turned out to be the same! The same old man that sold me that camera was there, and I bought a rather lovely Leningrad 6 Light meter...I had been looking for any light meter to complement my vintage cameras that I had been amassing which didn't have built-in meters. I think I got a pretty good deal for it too, considering it was in good working order - and post-research on the internet suggests that it is a rarer example too :) Sweet! I may blip that on a slow day!
Actually, while I am ranting here, I am having real trouble uploading jpegs at the moment. Most websites open ok, but I cannot for the life of me get a good upload speed with pictures to blip. It is quite infuriating, as I am not able to crop my photos how I'd like!
