Shadow-play
Carl's flight to the States was at 10.30, and a three-hours-before check-in was advised (why, I wonder?). Since he was travelling with his boss, he preferred to honour this timing, which meant setting the alarm for 6.30 and leaving my place around 7.15. Somehow, we managed that. It was a nice morning, at least, so pleasant weather for a trans-Atlantic flight.
I was the lucky one, able to go back to bed when I got back home, which I did. I was up in time for the start of coverage of the Turkish Grand Prix. For most of the race it looked as if Mark Webber was set to get a remarkable hat-trick of three wins in a row, especially when team-mate Sebastian Vettel provided a buffer by leap-frogging Lewis Hamilton during the pit stop. The blame game continues as to which of Webber and Vettel was responsible for the collision which caused Vettel's retirement and allowed the McLarens to take over the the first/second slots which seemed guaranteed to be Red Bull's. Strange stuff indeed, and really the only excitement in an otherwise rather boring race.
I had no real need to go in to town, but went anyway just to get a change of scene and not to have to switch to work mode as soon as I really should have. I parked in Marlborough Street and did a bit of a circuitous walk before returning to the car around 5.15 (which was when I caught this blip - it's the end wall of the building beside the Pro-Cathedral, which is possibly the presbytery). It was work when I got home, though at least it didn't turn into one of my ridiculously late sessions.
