There's no Place Like Home
It's good to be home! This past week has been deep and wide; long and tall; big and full -- I've written too many emotions, I am sure. But you know what, I'd do the entire week over again. Thanks for all the comments.
We left Carlsbad around 11:30 to begin our 90-minute trek homeward. We pulled off the freeway once in San Clemente because the traffic was increasing. So we drove up the coast highway and at Dana Point entered the freeway again; then had an easy drive home.
We arrived home to unpack our suitcases. Then I graded some papers while Mr. Fun took a nap. He said, "Vow-ing" takes a lot out of a person." I think he just likes taking an afternoon nap.
Tomorrow is my last day with Tuesday students. Reading and marking the in-class essays they wrote this past Tuesday has been interesting; they were to write an analysis of their semester. If I get the opportunity, I might blip some of what they wrote in these last essays. A few of the one-liners in them have been quite interesting and rewarding. One male student, who is a captain with the local fire department wrote, "I signed-up for an English course and ended up with an education." That brought tears to my eyes.
We have watched some of the TV clips about Memorial Day in America. My dad was a paratrooper in World War II and Mr. Fun's dad was an airplane mechanic. They neither one went overseas. My stepdad was in the Army and fought and was wounded in Germany. We are thankful for the men and women who have kept our nation free.
On this last night of May on the West Coast of America, good night.
Rosie (& Mr. Fun), aka Carol
