Back down to earth
Very tiring day yesterday. After that blip from the top of the hill, it took a further 3 and a quarter hours to get back down to the car. Really, really steep descent, so legs and knees were very wobbly by the end, slowing us down a lot. Can you believe I was too tired even for a beer? We went for a really nice meal at the Torridon Inn to reward ourselves. But I was on automatic pilot, and didn't really spend time to enjoy it. I might as well have had a bag of chips.
Today we took it really easy, heading back down at a leisurly pace to Inverness to catch the train. Has anyone else noticed that the head-rests on the seats of Scotrail trains are perfectly designed so that they don't actually support your head? As soon as I start to drift off, my head slumps forward, and I wake up. Repeat approximately 30 times over the space of half an hour, then give up. It totally sucks when you're really tired.
Now the holiday's over, we're back in the city, and it's back to work tomorrow. Not particularly looking forward to it.
