Treasure Chamber

Today I escorted my daughter's school visit out to Ferniehurst Castle, ancient seat of the Kerr family and still lived in by Lord Ralph Kerr (heir presumptive and brother to the current Marquis, Michael Ancram).

Short though our visit was there were some delights to be found. Firstly (and an alternative candidate for my blip) was a little porcelain model of Valentina Tereshkova, first woman in space and good friend of the late Lady Tony Lothian.

This though was a library found in one of the turrets. The picture doesn't really do it justice. The light and smell of the old leather tomes was amazing. I longed to just reach out and take down a volume and leaf through it.
