The real west

Moffat county where this year's American Penstemon Society annual meeting is taking place bills itself as "the real west" Possibly one of the least developed counties in Colorado it is not snow capped peaks as most people picture when the world "Colorado" is mentioned but rather a mixture of windblown sage covered plateaus, rugged canyons, badlands, pine covered mounatins, and rushing rivers.

Here looking from the top of lookout Mt west to Diamond Peak, one can glimpse much of the story of the west, from cattle, fake diamond fields, rare and endangered plants and animals, to a never ending need for energy as oil and natural gas drilling change the face of the landscape forever.
