Sunflowers

We've got new raised beds this year. Last year's first efforts of grow-your-own was kind of successful but the overly expensive raised bed really wasn't very good. Three cheap 1m square beds from your local DIY superstore have replaced it this year. They're made of interlocking bits of wood and because we've butted three of them up together, there are two narrow strips available which we've given to The Boy.

The first one has sunflowers in it. But they were planted a few weeks ago and there's still no sign. Probably not helped by the fact they were 2 years out of date. I'm impressed by his hand-writing though so all is not lost! I'll get him some new sunflower seeds and we'll replant I think. The other strip is waiting to receive some borlotto beans. If they grow well, they should make for a really good blip some time in the coming months.
