Day 1 - California - Stanford/ San Carlos

Day 1 in the California weather.
We spent most of today in or about Stanford Shopping Mall. We met up with our friend J who used to live in Edinburgh, but moved back to Canada. She was visiting a friend in Alameda so popped down to see us in Palo Alto to see the ring, but also to pass over much confectionery from the UK along with many Empire Magazines.

For lunch we ended up in the Palo Alto Creamery where they do some mighty nice burgers and milkshakes.

Before J had to head off we went up to San Carlos to a glass factory. Some nice pieces of work were on show, with equally nice (large) pricetags! - We didn't buy any as it would have never made the trip home.
