Object of desire...

This is Ben and one of the primary objects of his curiosity this week: the cats. Benji (the cat) has got to the point where he has decided that Ben (the boy) is not exactly a threat, but doesn't wish to find out what Ben might do to him given the chance. Ben on the other hand won't go any nearer: as strong as his curiosity is, the cats are strange enough for him to be wary. He will stand and point and wave and sign "cat" so excitedly and chatter and shout and bounce up and down - neither cat sees all this of course, they've got past the stage of running off at Ben's excited signing but they still can't deal with his shouting and bouncing - no matter how far away he is!

His daddy got a bit upset the other day. We skyped him when he got in from work, and although Ben was excited about seeing daddy (signing and saying daddy daddy!) when he saw him on screen he pointed and waved, but not much else. Then one of the cats walked and and Ben stood up and pointed and waved and signed and said hiya, hiya! All excited... Poor daddy. Ah well - we're going home tomorrow so we'll be saying bye-bye to grandma and grandad and the cats, and driving home to see daddy. And our own beds again!
