J Jour
It seemed appropriate on the anniversary of D-Day ( known as J-Jour here in France ) to take a pic of one of the many memorials set up to commemorate the landings and the events which followed. If you weren't aware of history you could be led to believe that Britain played no part in WW2 as in this area it was the Americans who arrived first after the landings.
This particular one commemorates the American 85th Airbourne who took a very prominant local vantage point used for shelling the surrounding area, including incidentally, our house which took a direct hit killing three people.
AS they say in the current vernacular - Respect.!
