roots and wings

By rootsandwings

This afternoon, as I drove home from a splendid few days on the western side of Northern Michigan, I thought about how lucky I am. My legs a little achy from hours of square dancing, feet still dirty from weeding my parents garden, and heart a little fonder from some time spent with special people. These past few weeks living in Alpena have found me separated from all of the important people in my life, so those moments when I find myself back together with even just a few of them are just that much more special.

This evening, I discovered a friend's photo blog and decided keeping one of my own would be a wonderful way to share a little bit of what goes on in my life with those important people. So I hope, even if you only check in once in a while, you enjoy a tiny slice of life through my eyes.

Today's photo is of a small succulent plant that holds a special place in my heart. One of many findings from a morning at Eastern Market with friends. Purchased from the same man as the now giant jade tree I insisted my dad buy when I was just a kid. Named after Reptar, a loved chicken of the LV cabin who recently passed away. Just this past week, this plant started to win my heart over by flowering these beautiful flowers.
