The bike lights which had been set aside for the summer had to be reinstated this morning on the cycle to the gym. Arthur's Seat and the distant Pentland hills had disappeared behind a shroud of wet and murky mist, and although the rain was fine, it settled into a really dismal morning.

The box of so called variegated pansies which we bought last week for planting into a tub were rather less than variegated. Of the 12 in the box, 10 turned out to be purple with the other 2 a yellow and a white.
To try and redress the balance, we went back to the garden centre to find another box. This is not the chore it seems as the cakes on offer make the effort worth while and the calories in the calorie bank from this morning's gym effort should allow a little reward.
Any pansies were prominent by their absence, so we left empty handed but cake replete and blip happy. Not a bad result.

We are looking forward to having daughter #5, up from Shipley for a conference in Edinburgh tomorrow, staying in the castle tonight. With any luck daughter #2 will manage to arrive from her Fife hospital in time to see her before bed time. I don't think they have met since last summer.
Because it's a bit of a special occasion, his Lordship and I are taking #5 daughter to the local eaterie for dinner. We could get used to this eating out, but twice in two days is rather over the top.
