Devil Dog

So many people in this country fear the Doberman Pinscher - one boy down the street called our dog Britta "devil dog" one day when we were out for a walk :)

They've been so stigmatized in the media and movies for years as vicious dogs, that people react very negatively to them. Countless times I've seen people literally cross to the other side of the street as we are approaching in order to avoid the dog!

While the Doberman is not for everyone and requires a strong owner and rigorous training, they are wonderfully sensitive dogs and quite sweet once they accept someone as part of the pack. In fact they make great therapy dogs because of these traits.

Britta really is such a sweet dog - I think this shot shows it well.
