Waiting for the Train
Today I visited a site for a new community garden in Morgan Hill California. The site is located behind the Caltrain station between 3rd and Depot streets.
Lots of blips today, but this one just seemed charming with the family and their trunks waiting for the train. Notice how Hiram is checking his pocket watch.
I posted a "2 days later" photo of the Agapanthus photo "Gettin a Little Crowded" in my folio. If you want to observe the progress of this bloom go to "Extras" on my folio page (go back one in my folio to see the original posted on June 9, 2010).
Enjoy large.
The bronze plaque at the base of the sculpture reads as follows:
WAITING FOR THE TRAIN
BY MARLENE AMERIAN
UNVEILED AS PART OF CENTENNIAL CELEBRATIONS APRIL 29, 2007
THIS BRONZE SCULPTURE DEPICTS ONE OF MORGAN HILL'S EARLY FOUNDING FAMILIES, HIRAM MORGAN HILL, HIS WIFE DIANA AND THEIR DAUGHTER DIANE. IN 1898, WHEN THE FIRST SOUTHERN PACIFIC STATION WAS BUILT, MANY VISITORS WOULD REQUEST THE TRAIN STOP AT "MORGAN HILL'S RANCH", WHICH IS HOW MORGAN HILL GOT ITS NAME.
