BOO!

The rubbish weather couldn't dampen the spirits of the village toddlers today, who came out to play in great numbers with their Mams, Dads, siblings, Grandparents, Aunties, Uncles - you name it! - to support the grand opening of their brand new Pre-school building and also to celebrate the 40th anniversary of pre-school education in Allendale.

It was a wonderful occasion, which kicked off in style with a sponsored bike/trike ride: the sight of dozens of tiny tots doing 4 laps of a very large school yard, many needing to be pushed by parents or friends (Grace included - thanks Archie!!) is not something that will easily be forgotten. Classic! Then we went back to the pre-school building for the grand opening, by none other than Mr Peter Rabbit! After that, there was lots more to do for kids and grown ups including stalls, bouncy castle, plus a BBQ and tons of yummy cakes and ice cream to eat. And there was also face painting thanks to my talented friend Trudie. Grace was turned into a pink kitty cat - meeeow!

Here is Grace hiding in the little shop in the newly-completed play garden at pre-school. It's a fantastic dedicated outdoor space for the little ones, with lots for them to do. She got a little tearful early in the day, not exactly sure why, though she seems to be getting tired very easily lately and that often leads to upset. However, she more than recovered and had a really fun time!

edit: my sister and brother in law completed the west highland way today - yay!! Brilliant achievement.
