OLD & NEW

Today we met with some old friends. They had been our neighbors for over 20 years. They moved only 25 miles away, but time and schedules have made our, what used to be weekly, if not sometimes, daily encounters with them, few and far between.

They are about 10 years ahead of us...in fact E is 10 years older than me, who is 10 years older than their twin daughters, who are 10 year older than our son. Pretty cool!!!

We shared a lot of life together, kinda grew up together in a way, hubby & I were 18 & 19 years old when we married and we met them very soon, within a year after we moved in. We had similar bad habits, broke bad habits, and started going to church, all of us. We have walked through a lot of life together.

So when we met up with them, we joined them at their church and enjoyed a day chatting, catching up, reminiscing and laughing. We miss them, but are happy for their situation and the good things going on in their life.

Like the old wagon wheel and the new bicycle, old memories, new life paths, both served a functional purpose, now one is to look at and admire, the other is to be used in the moment and enjoyed!!!
