Out and about [Croatia, Day 2]

We're based in Makarska, which is between Split and Dubrovnik. We got to know it a bit last night by just wandering along the beachfront from our hotel at one end to the harbour and the old town at the other. We explored a bit more today, though generally speaking we were pretty lazy on the whole. We met our travel rep to begin with (at the ridiculously early hour of 9.00 am!) and discussed a few things with her, including going on some excursions during our stay. A boat trip to the island of Hvar sounded interesting, and we also definitely want to make our way to Dubrovnik.

Being Sunday, the atmosphere was quite different from last night when we were on our acclimatisation wander. We found our bearings, and by the time we got back to our hotel no longer felt like strangers in a strange land. Makarska is a nice spot, with lots happening around the harbour especially, and we lazed away an hour or two soaking up the atmosphere. We were remarkably restrained in terms of alcohol consumption during the day, and didn't even make up for it in the evening when we settled in a nice restaurant on the corner of the main square for a pleasant bite to eat.
