Hello World
Thank you for all the great comments about my series of pictures. They are very much appreciated. Gill has been talking to other carers about raising these little ones and not many seem to have much success.
We've had a busy weekend, taking and releasing three hogs we over wintered back to the wild. Two last night and one on Saturday.
Ten days on and the hoglets features are starting to show. This little boy is one of the first to start opening his eyes (four in total). He is over 50g now and is slowly learning to toilet for himself.
Their size and overall development appears to be slower than hoglets that are fed by their mother.
Their mothers milk is roughly 42% fat which allows for rapid weight gain. The feed we have is about 25%, but this week Gill has started to mix in a semi-solid food supplement to start the weaning process. They seem to like it at the moment and should help with growth.
