Mark

Allow me to introduce a very good friend of ours, Mr Mark Turnbull.

Mark was born blind to a single mum in Redcar over forty years ago. Despite the obvious obstacles, he went on to be a very popular radio presenter for the BBC and president of the NUJ. He has rubbed shoulders with HRH Queen Elizabeth II at The Royal Garden Party, Tony Blair, Fidel Castro, and even used to get lifts home from Roy 'Chubby' Brown. Think of a famous/important person and no doubt Mark has met him or her.

Mark is one of those rare and wonderful people that can instantly change your life. Once met never forgotten, and once befriended a companion for life.

What makes him so special is that he never speaks of the struggles he must have faced, nor does he complain about the cards he was dealt. He lives life to its fullest and is the brightest spark in any room.

He was the obvious choice for one of Pob's (4) godparents, and cried when we asked him. We couldn't think of a better person for the job, and hope that Pob grows to love him as much as we do.

If you ever see Mark, he likes to drink pints of gin & tonic (6 shots per pint) and loves a bit of Mika on the jukebox.

I'll be introducing blip followers to more Mark over the coming months, so watch out for him in July and August.
