Miners
I was back in my home town today to visit the dentist. My home town is Lochgelly and it was (and I suspect still is) the cheapest place to buy property in the UK.
It's attempting to re-invent itself a bit and this sculpture went up a couple of years ago to represent the town's mining heritage. The building behind is the miners' institute and it was built in 1925. It was always a dark old looking place while I was growing up but it's been given a facelift and now looks really good.
I'd say Lochgelly still has a long way to go and during this transition it doesn't even look as appealing to me as it did when I was a boy but action is being taken and I wish it all the best.
My teeth are fine, by the way.
