Balls!

Keeping the cricket theme alive following wonderful blips by Kath and Ann.

In this delightful building Alfred Reader started making the famous red cricket balls in 1808. Reader's balls are still licensed for test match use and Reader's are still an approved supplier to the ECB (England and Wales Cricket Board). This is in Teston (pronounced Tee-son) and not far from where I took the kite blip the other day. The balls are now made in a rather less charming industrial unit a couple of miles away and the test standard balls sell for upwards of £70 when new.

This shot is a bit strained but the sun was brutal and I wanted to get an angle rather than straight-on because here the background hints at how rural the area is. Front on picks out the newish houses down Readers Court.
