Deep in the Woods
Today I went out with the rangers ( and some volunteers) from Yarrow Valley Country Park. We (they) are building a bridge to replace the bridge washed away some years ago. Although I spent most of the day taking photographs, I did do some proper work. I think I shifted at least 4 wheelbarrows full of heavy limestone rock into a large wired cage. The lads wheeled truck loads of rock down a very steep path. Someone had to walk backwards in front of each load and push back on the wheelbarrow to prevent it gathering its own momentum and mowing us all down. ( The scary wheelbarrow)
I was going to post a photograph of the bridge in progress but there isn't much to see at the moment. I guess you can all drum up a mental picture of limestone rock. I got some 'people at work' pictures but I am not publishing them just yet. I got prior permission to take the shots and I have agreed to share them with the park.
It was a lovely, lovely day and I enjoyed it very much. I intend to go back in the very near future. I want to be part of this bridge work.
The sun was shining brilliantly but it could only get though the trees in patches - strong but dappled light.
