Laguna Beach
Back up to date with my back Blips starting here with delightful fun at SeaWorld. and some new material on my photography site.
Loving this recess from school and therapy til September, from everything that has characterised our lives since Reuben's birth 3 years ago: intensive intervention. The fact I can breeze to San Diego for Sea World one day, the Getty the next and Laguna Beach with Mary and Alexander today, well, this is extraordinary and unheard of. The boys are euphoric.
There's a special thing about this sweet little boy sitting here in a blue tub, a little boat on the sandy berm above the deep blue ocean. This is the first time Reuben's played in sand, I mean really been able to play. A little Bandaid placed over the stoma in his throat, the only thing today to remind me of the cautious days not to play in sand and water.
Today was... glorious. A stunningly beautiful town so reminiscent of English seaside towns, and vertiginous views from the cliffs to rocky outcrops and sandy coves. I guess it's why they named a soap op after it.
Other highlights: turning round to see Callum donning Mary's trainers with a huge grin on his face, Callum saying "1, 2, 3", the boys saying "I want juice please Mama" in unison, Mary's much needed break, Mama covered in sand-on-sunlotion whilst wearing a pretty floral dress, dancing in the surf with the boys, the margarita I was looking forward to even if I didn't get to taste.
PS Travelling back up Laguna Canyon to pick up my camera out of Canon rehab in Irvine, we tried our best to get there by 6, but alas, were 3 mins late and not a soul was to be found. The beach held such a draw, we didn't wish to leave. I guess I'll be looking for something else to do close to Irvine tomorrow as I have to have my camera back for the wedding on Friday.
PPS Reuben has a test on Thursday to see how his GI tract is doing. It will determine whether he requires a further stomach surgery for his reflux.
