Taking flight
Had a productive day in the house talking to builders, estate agent, and cleaning and DIYing. Glorious weather again and had a nice lunch with mum and Cari on the promenade.
By 4 o'clock it was time for a quick hour on the beach: the Isle of Man's best kept secret - White Strand, the most tranquil sandy beach you can imagine just five mins away from civilisation, and just one other person on the beach, a woman who has been going there for 70 years and had spent all day there looking for, and finding, semi-precious stones on the beach, and watching the birds.
The birds in this picture, I think, are Curlews, a mother and one of her two chicks taking flight. I watched them for a while, mother wandering and chicks following and just about keeping up, then once or twice the mother took flight and the chicks did their best to keep up (not very successfully).
