The best laid plans.............

It was our intention to cut back the clematis which, although looks wonderful when flowering, has rather taken over the fence outside the garden window.

So, about 3 weeks ago, I set to with the cutters - can't spell secateurs! - and cut it back to where we wanted it and got rid of a lot of the old dead wood.

On close inspection this evening, while doing a little more tidying up, found to my amazement that it had started to grow again, sprouting from what looks like dead bits of stick.

Isn't nature marvellous? Didn't have the heart to cut it back again, so will have to train it to grow the other way.
