New era for hospitals in Birmingham?
Terrible photo but taken at speed from the car ...! (I wasn't driving!).
Today is the day the new "super hospital" opens - how super is it, we don't know!
This represents the closure of the (now) old A&E at Selly Oak, and eventually wil incorporate all of Selly and Queen Elizabeth hospitals - I think the move is over two years. It's a giant structure, shiny and new (and where Gordon Brown made one of his pre-election speeches) but inside they are still building, on the 5th floor and upwards, although I don't know how many people realise that!
We were hoping it might house somewhere nice to eat (those of us at the neighbouring university are always on the prowl for better eating opportunities), but of course, it doesn't.
