Death in the Post

This is the inside of my postbox.
Not so charming,
how the poor thing ended up there
I do not know
wish she'd chosen some other place to die in
somewhere nice
like the flowerbeds outside.

But here she is
dead in my mailbox.

I'm sorry,
but I'm not bringing her in.
