Burnet Moth

Well, you learn something new every day. According to the BBC web site:

"Six-spot burnet moths are a riot of colour in close up, with red spots on iridescent green wings. These are day flying moths. They are plump and might be a tasty morsel for a bird, but their bright colours say 'don't eat me - I taste disgusting!'. In scientific terms, they are aposematically coloured, that is they are brightly coloured as a warning to potential predators."

I took several photos showing the moth's spotted wings, but I liked this one facing the camera better. It flew off in a pink blur, wasn't quick enough to catch that - more practice required!
