In the Eyes

"Time takes its toll, but not on the eyes..." - 'Perfect Ten', Beautiful South.

I love Paddington's eyes. He is still a puppy and will be celebrating his first birthday next week. He's crazy and fun and full of life...

I know he will grow old and weak over the next decade: He will eventually run less, sleep more and start slipping away... and the day will come when I will need the wisdom to recognise that it's the end of the road and, more importantly, I'll need the courage to let him go.

But until that dreaded day comes I know that, no matter how old and weak he gets, I will be able look into those two beautiful, knowing eyes and recognise the little puppy that has left such enormous footprints all over my heart... and my bed... and my couch... and my life:)
