Sometimes I wonder...

We were at a Standard Life SAS forum today. SAS is one of the systems that our department use for interogatting our pension systems. The company that supplies it put on a forum consisting of various talks by some of our people and some of their which really is basically a huge PR plug.

It's kinda frightening the money that must have been thrown at it from the leather folder things your given at registration with the pens and stationary, to the room hires, audio/visual setup and lunch spread all paid for at the Caledonian Hilton.

I must say, I did find it really wierd. We were having a very nice lunch of which there was absolutely loads of variety and ridiculous volume but I was eating it and looking out the window across the street seeing a guy sitting on the other side of the street with his blanket begging. 2 extremes.
