John Adams' garden

It was a through the wardrobe experience. Withybed cottages are on the edge of a pretty ordinary Worcestershire village but under the railway, over a hump backed canal bridge and we were in a different world. Several terraced workmens cottages built over a number of years in the 18th and 19th centuaries with beautiful gardens. Six cottages opened their gardens, all beautifully kept and differently planted.

My friend John Adams has a collection of old roses and fruit trees and much more beside. Before I left I bought 2 jars of honey produced by his bees in the hives at the bottom of the garden
