Butterfly

I'm not a butterfly expert, but this may be a checkerspot of one species or another. Any thoughts? It was impossible to pass up. It was a great last day of spring hike in Joaquin Miller park in Oakland. Spring wildflowers have done their thing; summer species are showing up. But butterflies were everywhere today. It was warm and they were flying frantically. I'm glad this one cooperated.
