Venezia a la California

History lesson...

Sir Abbot Kinney came to California at the turn of the last century and bought up a bunch of land near the ocean. His dream was to develop it into the "Venice" of the West based on the Venice canals of Italy.

He succeeded somewhat...back in the day, it was a haven for bohemian actors, writers, and society people. A scene. As the waterfront became overdeveloped, some of these people moved out, however, the bohemian flavor never did..

Hence, why Venice remains a hotbed of artists, skate and surf culture, and that bohemian vibe.

Overall, it's rundown now, however, the canals are still peaceful with lovely homes.

Treated in post for a vintage feel of old colour film. Sun was bright.
