Could be a contender
The village gardens competition will be judged in a couple of weeks and some people are clearly making a big effort. The owner of this garden is in her nineties and has lived here all her life. She likes her garden to appeal to small children and has different toys in it each year.
Technically, none of the land beyond the front door belongs to any of the householders and the Village Trust would be entitled to remove all of this. The gardeners do occasionally cut down overgrown shrubs but I can't imagine they would remove any pots. Vandalism is not a big probem, though each year there are instances of pots, hanging baskets and benches being stolen unfortunately.
The late sunshine was lovely this evening as I walked round delivering committee minutes and there were quite a few people out for a stroll.
